The fundamental principle of environmental protection in Kovinoplastika Lož d.o.o. is the tendency to coordinate all activities towards a sustainable improvement. In 1998, we obtained the environmental certificate ISO 14001 as the first major company in the Republic of Slovenia, and since then we have been paying great attention to reducing our impact on all elements of the environment. We monitor all major environmental and energy factors, such as energy consumption, wastewater management, chemicals management, waste management, air emissions and noise management, all monitored in the framework of the international standard ISO 14001, which we regularly renew and upgrade every year. Clearly defining our objectives and raising environmental awareness, we have, in the recent years, achieved an improvement of the situation in all areas of environmental protection.

 

Within the framework of the environmental management system, all the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard are established and maintained; among the most important are:

• defining and adopting the POLICY OF MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, supported by top management, assessing environmental aspects and establishing a valuation process through which significant environmental points of view, risks, and opportunities can be recognized, which is the basis for the setting of environmental objectives and consequent environmental programs for the realization of these objectives;
• establishment and maintenance of many procedures and programs for the control of operation and maintenance in all areas and levels in accordance with the applicable environmental legislation: structure and responsibility, training, employment of capable personnel, establishment of appropriate external and internal communication, involvement of employees in the introduction of procedures, control over documentation and procedures, control over facilities and special facilities — maintenance program and emissions (monitoring), keeping special records (hazardous chemicals, use, period, handling, employees, transport, education);
• establishment and maintenance of an emergency preparedness system;
• establishment and maintenance of a procedure for evaluating investment projects (construction, reconstruction or removal of a facility or technology) from the perspective of potential environmental impacts and, in this context, the introduction of the necessary environmental safeguards;
• establishment and maintenance of a system of non-compliance determination and preventive and corrective actions;
• establishment and maintenance of procedures for controlling environmental aspects, work operations and various other environmental behaviours, together with a system of internal audits and corrective and preventive measures and management reviews, with the aim of continual improvement of the environment management;
• regular annual management reviews by the top management and periodic management reviews in individual PCs.
